The VISION of Mankweng Community Law Advice Office is to become a leading partner and stakeholder in the local, national and global efforts of entrenching the culture of human rights in communities.
Overview of the work...
Mankweng Community Law Advice Office is a Non Profit Organization established on the 24th Aug 2010 and registered with the Department of Social Development. Mankweng Community Law Advice office is rendering Human Rights services on Domestic violence, children and women’s rights, Poverty Alleviation , HIV/AIDS and youth empowerment .
Mankweng Community Law Advice Office provide consultation, Mediation and support on the Labour Relations, Grants, Civil Claims, Dispute resolutions, poverty alleviation projects and HIV/AIDS related issues ,provide education on human rights and to provide free legal advice . It targets are women and children, People affected and infected by HIV/AIDS, refugees, farm workers and elderly people amongst others. It operates within the Human Rights sector and has partnered with Black Sash which deals with monitoring of service delivery on social grants; NADCAO which is a group of paralegals helping advise offices to establish themselves; Tshwaranang legal advocacy use to train these organization on domestic violence and establish its important within the community, chapter 9 institutions; the Department of Justice and Mankweng Magistrate court; South African Police Service especially the Victim Empowerment fraternity; the Department of Social Development that buttresses the foster care of the Orphaned and Vulnerable Children and it has affiliated with AIDS Consortium.
Mankweng Community Law Advice Office has fostered partnerships with the following local CBO’s and other authorities which plays a major role in reaching out the community:

Mankweng Community Law Advice Office have made a major contribution and build strong relationships with the chiefs in serving a vast number of residents in the rural and remote areas on socio legal advice in the following villages: Mothapo, Molepo, Dikgale, Mamabolo and Makgoba; through workshops and awareness campaigns
Mankweng Community Law Advice Office is willing to partner with all the Government departments and interested private sector which are willing to see these communities accessing justice and protecting their rights. Through partnerships with private and public sectors the vision to see these rural and remote communities being educated on their rights and able to access justice on their rights will be accomplished.
ORIGINS AND MISSION
Mankweng Community Law Advice Office was established after the realization that most communities in the East of Capricorn Municipality lack knowledge and awareness on human rights. It was perceived throughout the years of involvement with this communities that the rights of the residents of these seven villages are oppressed. After this realization an initiative was taken to enlighten these communities about human rights and enable able them to exercise their rights.
The VISION of Mankweng Community Law Advice Office is to see every individual in the rural and remote areas of east of the Capricorn municipality being aware and exercising their rights.
Its MISSION is to provide human rights education to the communities of Mothapo, Molepo, Mamabolo, and Makgoba; through workshops and campaigns within their villages.
The aim and objectives of Mankweng Community Law Advice Office are as follows:
- To render free legal services to the needy and desperate communities;
- To build respect for the democratic principles and justice in local communities;
- To create a visible and flexible human rights campaign in order to create an influence and encouragement to public institutions to cater for less advantage, indigent and illiterates, increase access to legal services;
- Enrich the community on legal matters through workshops, meetings and conferences;
- Further assist people on available community projects and formation of other projects and formation of other projects;
- Co-opt professional to assist in drive for efficiency of our organization.
What We OfferOur Services
Financial Facts(funding)
Currently Mankweng Community Law Advice Office was funded by Foundation for Human Rights just to establish itself. We are now also working with Dept. Of Labour, The Other Foundation, HiDSA
It is also willing to engage local businesses to assist with revenues to sustain the organization for the betterment of rural communities in human rights.
